Students' Grievance committee

Introduction

The Students' Grievance Committee of Rai Saheb Bhanwar Singh College, Nasrullaganj, aims to promote and maintain a conducive and unbiased educational environment. The objectives of the Students' Grievance Committees include the following:

  1. To support students who have been deprived of the services offered by the college, to which they are entitled.
  2. To make college officials responsive, accountable, and courteous in dealing with students.
  3. To ensure effective resolution of students' grievances with an impartial and fair approach

The Committee enables students to express their concerns by initiating and pursuing the grievance procedure in accordance with the rules and regulations of the College. The Students' Grievance Committee investigates and analyzes the nature and pattern of grievances in a strictly confidential manner. Emphasis is placed on procedural fairness, ensuring "the right to be heard. and the right to be treated without bias."

During the year, no major grievances were reported. Minor grievances received were promptly forwarded to the vice-principals for immediate redressal. In all such cases, prompt actions were taken, and the issues were resolved. The concerned students were informed of the measures taken, and Systematic checks were introduced to prevent recurrence.

Objectives of the Students' Grievance Committee

  3. To provide effective solutions to students' grievances with an impartial and fair approach.

Functions

  1. To address and resolve students' grievances related to academic and administrative matters.
  2. To coordinate between students and college departments/sections for grievance redressal.
  3. To guide students on ways and means to resolve their issues effectively.

Students' Grievance Procedure

The grievance procedure serves as a mechanism to address issues between students and the college. It provides students who believe they have been treated unfairly in academic or administrative matters with a platform for resolution. The Students' Grievance Committee investigates grievances confidentially, ensuring that only those with a legitimate role in resolving the issue are informed.

Students are required to lodge their grievances using the prescribed form, available with the vice-principals or deans of their respective departments. The duly filled form should be submitted in the designated drop box placed outside the principal's office. The Secretary of the Grievance Committee will review the grievance and forward it to the committee for necessary action. A final report based on the grievances received and resolved will be submitted to the principal, who will decide on further actions. Students will be informed of the resolutions taken.

Exclusions

The Students' Grievance Committee shall not entertain the following issues:

  1. Decisions of the Academic Council, Board of Studies, and other academic/administrative committees constituted by the College.
  2. Decisions regarding the award of scholarships, fee concessions, awards, and medals.
  3. Decisions made by the College under the Discipline Rules and Misconduct Regulations.
  4. Decisions related to admissions in any course.
  5. Decisions of the competent authority on assessments and examination results.

During the year, no major grievances were received. Minor grievances were forwarded to the vice-principals for immediate redressed, and all cases were resolved promptly. Aggrieved students were informed of the measures taken, and systemic improvements were introduced to prevent recurrence.
